Wilcox Stage Company
Interested in theater? Interested in acting? Directing? Designing lights? Building and designing sets? Costume design? Or just a general curiosity for how to put on a show? Then join theater at Wilcox.
There are two main theater courses, Theater I and Theater Productions Honors. You must take and pass Theater I with a C or higher to enroll in Productions and get approval from Ms. Robson.
In Theater I, students learn the foundations of acting and directing. They frequently perform for their classmates, write their own scripts, and memorize both historical and contemporary scenes. Students learn how to pantomime, improv, and act onstage! This course is required in order to participate in the honors course.
In Theater Productions Honors, students get hands on experience creating a show. Students in this course are in the theater troupe called WSC or Wilcox Stage Company. They are required to spend both class time and many hours after school producing the productions. In addition, students get the opportunity to view professional theater on multiple field-trips.
Wilcox Stage Company puts on two shows per school year. These shows are student directed, acted and designed. There are opportunities for students to learn how to build, paint, act, direct, apply stage makeup and do hair, costume, light design and more. The course requires a passion for theater, dedication and self-driven/independent learners. Students operate in a deadline driven environment that mirrors a real-world work experience.
Anyone can audition and be a part of the show process after school. Currently, we are working on The Great Gatsby which will open April 22. To learn even more and see what our acting company, Wilcox Stage, is all about click the website link above or follow us @wilcoxstage.
