Summer School Information 2023

Dear SCUSD families,
 
This message contains information about summer school for high school students. If your student has been in contact with their school counselor about recovering credits for graduation, or if your student is interested in applying for the “get ahead” PE/health class this summer, please read the message below. 
 
Santa Clara High School will host summer school for all high school students needing to recover credits. Our school counselors have been working diligently to pre-register our students for their possible summer courses. 

Sessions

  • Session 1 will begin on June 7 and end on June 23 (no school on June 19).
  • Session 2 will begin on June 26 and end on July 13 (no school July 3 -4).

Schedule

  • Classes will be held daily from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with a 30-minute break. 

Courses

  • Courses offered will be English, mathematics, science, history/social science, PE/health, art, Spanish, American sign language (ASL), extended school year (ESY), and literacy support for English learners.
  • A separate “get ahead” PE/health summer school course will also be available. First priority for summertime PE/health is given to: 
  1. Seniors 
  2. Juniors 
All other applicants for “get ahead” PE/health will be selected through a lottery system.

Santa Clara High School will be hosting summer school for all high school students needing to recover credits. Our school counselors have been working diligently to pre-register our students for their possible summer courses.  Here are some important things to note:

 
  • Session 1 will begin on June 7 and end on June 23 (no school on June 19).

  • Session 2 will begin on June 26 and end on July 13 (no school July 3 -4).

  • Classes will be held daily from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with a 30-minute break.

  • Bussing will be provided on an as-needed basis.

  • Applications will be distributed via a Google Form through ParentSquare on Friday, March 31, as well as posted to the district website and all high school websites. 

    • Please complete the application if you have been pre-registered by your school counselor.

  • A separate “Get Ahead” PE/Health summer school course application will also be distributed through ParentSquare on Friday, March 31, as well as posted to the district website and all high school websites. 

  • First priority for summertime PE/Health is given to: 

    • 1) Rising Seniors 

    • 2) Rising Juniors 

    • 3) AVID sophomores 

    • All other applicants will be selected through a lottery system. 

  • Final placement in classes is contingent upon staffing availability.

Escuela de verano 2023

 

Estimadas familias del SCUSD,

 

La Escuela Secundaria de Santa Clara organizará una escuela de verano para todos los estudiantes de secundaria que necesiten recuperar créditos . Nuestros consejeros escolares han estado trabajando diligentemente para preinscribir a nuestros estudiantes para sus posibles cursos de verano. Aquí hay algunas cosas importantes a tener en cuenta:

 
  • La sesión 1 comenzará el 7 de junio y finalizará el 23 de junio (no habrá clases el 19 de junio).

  • La sesión 2 comenzará el 26 de junio y terminará el 13 de julio (no hay clases el 3 y 4 de julio).

  • Las clases se llevarán a cabo todos los días de 8 am a 1:30 pm con un descanso de 30 minutos.

  • Los cursos ofrecidos serán inglés, matemáticas, ciencias, historia/ciencias sociales, educación física, salud, arte, español, ASL, ESY y apoyo de alfabetización para los estudiantes de inglés.

  • El servicio de autobús se proporcionará según sea necesario.

  • Las solicitudes se distribuirán a través de un formulario de Google a través de ParentSquare el viernes 31 de marzo, y se publicarán en el sitio web del distrito y en todos los sitios web de las escuelas secundarias.

    • Complete la solicitud si su consejero escolar lo ha preinscrito.

  • También se distribuirá a través de ParentSquare el viernes 31 de marzo una solicitud separada para el curso de escuela de verano de Educación Física/Salud “Get Ahead”, y se publicará en el sitio web del distrito y en todos los sitios web de las escuelas secundarias.

  • La primera prioridad para la educación física/salud durante el verano se da a:

    • 1) Mayores en ascenso

    • 2) Jóvenes en ascenso

    • 3) AVID estudiantes de segundo año

    • Todos los demás solicitantes serán seleccionados a través de un sistema de lotería.

  • La ubicación final en las clases depende de la disponibilidad de personal.
