MakerSpace

The MakerSpace is a multifunction resource for students, staff, and community members. Maker's creations can be for personal or professional use and can be anything from toys and decorations to utilities and tools.

Objects can be extremely complex (a clockwork car) or very simple (a sticker of your name). Design options are left up to the Maker with the assistance of our onsite staff. Design tools and low cost prototype materials are available to assist in the creation process.

The MakerSpace offers the use of two Epilog Mini laser cutting machines. These machines allow Makers to create beautiful engravings, etchings, and cuts on various materials including wood, glass, paper, cloth, acrylic, and leather. Each machine has a bed that measures 12" L x 24" W allowing for some fairly sizable creations. In addition each machine has an optional rotor attachment so Makers can engrave on cylinders such as bottles and posts.

Two Roland CAMM-1 GS-24 vinyl cutters are available to use within the MakerSpace. These machines are able to cut both adhesive and heat transfer vinyl. Adhesive vinyl can be used to create decals which can be used for decorative or practical purposes such as Chromebook stickers or directional signs in a hallway.

The MakerSpace houses two Hotronix Fusion heat presses to assist with the creation heat transfer vinyl designs for clothing or other fabrics.

Two dual color Ultimaker 3 and a MakerBot Replicator 3D printers are available for use in the MakerSpace. These devices are used to create high quality objects from three dimensional designs. In addition, the Ultimaker 3 printers have high resolution print heads for projects that may require very fine detail.

The MakerSpace has a retractable green screen for the creation of virtual projects of any type. Uses range from creating photographs in distant or impossible locations, to recreate scenes from history or literature and to bring completely new ideas to life. 

A 500mm X-Carve CNC router is available for use in the makerspace. Similar to the laser cutter, this machine allows thicker materials as well as the ability to cut materials that cannot be used in a laser cutter. With the right designs, highly detailed three dimensional images can be created. 

Several smaller machines and devices are included in the MakerSpace to provide additional or supplemental creation options. Pictured above are a Cricut Maker and a full color legal sized scanner.
