During Back-to-School Night in September, parents had the opportunity to submit questions about Wilcox High School. Questions will periodically be answered in this section.
“What do you like most about Wilcox?”
I like the culture and climate of Wilcox. This can be attributed to both students and staff. We are focused on academics and also place emphasis on supporting and educating the whole student through our countless number of clubs, athletics, activities and other events. I truly enjoy coming to work every single day.
“What are your goals for Wilcox? What would you like to change?”
There are several goals for Wilcox this year. The first goal is to support students and staff in their work on the Common Core State Standards. Now that we have some performance data from the spring 2015 test, we can begin analysis and reflection on student performance and our teaching practice. Additionally, we set goals and focus areas for growth through our WASC process last year. Making progress in those areas is also a goal for this year.
We have already begun work on these goals through staff collaboration groups. These cross-curricular groups meet monthly, each group focusing on one goal or area of growth for the year. The purpose of these groups is to drive school wide growth and progress by creating and implementing action plans that directly address our goals and growth areas.
“My child has stated that teachers only receive homework through email. Is this correct?”
The best way to get information and ask questions regarding your student’s homework is to contact the teacher directly. You can do this by visiting the teacher’s School Loop page or emailing the teacher via School Loop. Teachers do use School Loop to post in-class and homework assignments.
