To all girls interested in trying out for Volleyball this upcoming Fall 2018:

A few things to take note of importance:

  • Summer workouts/open gyms:
    • These sessions are completely voluntary
    • Starting June 19 (every Tuesday and Thursday) and will end on Thursday July 19.
    • Time is scheduled for 2:00 PM-3:30 PM in the main gym
    • Conditioning sessions will follow open gym Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30PM-4:30PM in the fitness room
    • Please wear athletic shoes and apparel for safety reasons. No low cut tank tops, no jean shorts, etc...
  • Schedule your physicals NOW! You WILL NOT be able to tryout until you have a physical on file. You can find these documents on School Loop
    • https://wilcox.schoolloop.com/cms/page_view?d=x&piid=&vpid=1360315694428
  • First day of tryouts will be Friday, August 3rd. Time is still TBD and a follow up School Loop post will be up soon. Check back for updates. Remember no physical = no trying out
  • For returning Wilcox students; if you do not have a 2.0 GPA at the end of the second semester for June 2018 you will not be eligible to play. Academic probation may be an option, however please refer to the “athlete packet” for further information in regards to the policies we have in place here at Wilcox.
    • Grades and points: A = 4, B = 3, C = 2, D = 1, F = 0 (divide total points earned by the number of classes you were enrolled in to calculate GPA)

Summer workouts are not mandatory, however highly suggested you try to attend as many as possible in order to increase your chance of making the team. Please keep in mind that even if you are able to attend every summer workout YOU WILL NOT BE guaranteed a spot on the either the JV or Varsity team. All freshmen trying out will be a part of the freshmen team unless asked to move up.

If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me. You can reach me at alujan@scusd.net during the summer.

Please forward this onto anyone who is interested in trying out.

Looking forward seeing you all soon,

Coach Lujan – Varsity

Coach Nuti – Junior Varstiy

Dear Charger Families,

The Senior Send Off will be held on June 2nd.  You can lend your support in two ways!

1.) Volunteer to help the night of the event.  There are a variety of jobs to sign up for, from picking up food to chaperoning the event. Parents of any age student are welcome to help; however, we can only accept adult volunteers (no students). Sign up here!

2.) Donate gift cards (from $5-100 in value from a variety of vendors) or electronic gadgets (tablets, smart phones, smart watches, cameras, etc.)  Perhaps you work for a company that would be willing to donate something? Donate here!

Thank you in advance for supporting this safe and sober celebration for our graduating seniors!

Barbara Fritschen
